What is your purpose ______?

Some of us don't plan or even think about what we will do tomorrow. A couple more won't even think about what we will do next month. Even a larger number won't even bother to think about next year.

If you have not realised it yet, you are in Secondary 3 already and next year, when you are in Secondary 4, your time spent in school will be very short due to the N Level exams. The N Levels will be somewhere in September and afterwhich most of you, in fact all of you should be saying farewell to Greendale Sec. Check out this website for major exam details: http://www.seab.gov.sg/

This brings me to the topic for today. What is your purpose _____?
I have purposely left out a part of the question. You can complete it with "of going to school" or "in life" or any other ending you choose.

For me, my question would be "What is your purpose in life?" If I plan to be a useless part of society (some people may even label it as being a rubbish of society) then I will just make a nuisance of myself where ever I go. I won't care about how my actions affect others or even myself in the future because I simply have NO RESPECT for myself, what more for others...

However, if I plan to be a useful part of society, I will do my best in school, get good grades and BE ABLE TO CHOOSE my path in life. I will not be a burden to myself, my parents or to anyone around me. After all, how many of us can honestly say 100% that I can depend on the people (be it classmates, friends or even family) when I am not doing well in the future??

Think over your own lives. Stop halucinating about what may be in the future if effort is not put in now. You decide your future, don't let someone else decide it for you...

Week 1 is over...

Its seems like time flies when you are in school. Life is dictated by 30 minute periods.

With so many things happening this week, I would like to share several quotes with everyone. Hopefully, we take the time to reflect on what has happened and how we can improve ourselves in the coming weeks.

"When anger rises, think of the consequences" by Confucius (551 BC - 479BC)

"If you do notwish to beprone to anger, do not feed the habit; give it nothing which may tend to its increase" by Epictetus (55 AD- 135 AD)

"Our patience will achieve more than our force" by Edmund Burke (1729 - 1797)

"Patience is the best remedy for every trouble" by Titus Maccius Plautus (254 BC - 184 BC)

Have a great weekend everyone and see all of you on Monday!

Declaration Statements

Hi everyone.

As part of the plan to give ownership of the class to all of you, do give suggestions on the following topics:
  1. Class vision
  2. Class mission
  3. Class values (eg GDLS, R3ICH etc)
  4. Class culture (eg class cheer, gatherings etc)
  5. Class code of conduct

Do give your honest feedback. If you don't, then I will have to put in rules etc which you may not like. So do your part as a member of 3T1.

Ushering in 2009!

Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009 !!

As a new year emerges from the old, let us reflect on what was and what will be. Think about what we did right (may we continue doing it) and what we did wrong (may we try our best to stop it) and how our actions affected others.

Resolutions are always good but seeing them through the year would be better. No use aiming for the sky when we can't even reach the ceiling in our homes! Aim high enough for it to be a challenge and low enough for it to be manageable.

Let us strive to make 2009 a memorable year!
